Assign a Data Exploration configuration to a dataset

Each dataset uses one Data Exploration configuration. Data Exploration uses it whenever a researcher opens the dataset.

When you create a dataset

In the Admin Portal, go to Datasets > Add dataset and select the configuration in the PA config field. The field is required. See Create a dataset for the other fields.

Use the configuration that matches the data model of the dataset, for example OMOP for an OMOP CDM dataset or FHIR_ALL for a FHIR dataset. See Configurations that ship with Data2Evidence.

When you update a dataset

  1. In the Admin Portal, go to Datasets.
  2. In the Select action dropdown of the dataset, select Update dataset.
  3. Select another configuration in the PA config field.
  4. Save the dataset.

Test a configuration before you assign it

Changes to a configuration apply to every dataset that uses it. To try out changes without affecting researchers:

  1. Duplicate the configuration and change the copy.
  2. Assign the copy to a test dataset and check it in Data Exploration.
  3. Assign the copy to the other datasets once you are satisfied.
