Configure filter cards
Researchers build cohorts in Data Exploration by combining filter cards. Each filter card corresponds to basic data or an interaction from the data model configuration, and contains attributes researchers can filter on.
Configure the filter cards on the Filter Cards tab of a Data Exploration configuration.
Filter cards
For each filter card, you can:
- Switch it on or off with Activate Filter Card. Researchers can only use activated filter cards. The Basic Data filter card is always active.
- Select Display Filter Card at Application Start to show the filter card when Data Exploration opens.
- Change the order in which filter cards are listed. The order numbers must be unique.
Attributes
For each attribute of a filter card, the following columns are available:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Order | The position of the attribute on the filter card. The order numbers must be unique. |
| Visible | Makes the attribute available on the filter card. |
| Initial | Shows the attribute on the filter card by default. Researchers can add the other visible attributes themselves. |
| Show Descriptions | Shows description texts next to the codes. Requires a catalog attribute in the data model configuration. |
| Show All Codes | Offers all possible codes, also those for which no data is available. Requires a Reference Expression and Reference Filter in the data model configuration. |
| X-Axis | Lets researchers group the bar chart by this attribute. |
| Y-Axis | Lets researchers use this attribute as a measure in the bar chart. |
| Data Binning | Groups the values of a numeric attribute into ranges. |
| Default Bin Size | The default size of these ranges, for example 10 for age groups of ten years. |
| Caching | Caches the value suggestions of the attribute. Switch it off for attributes whose values change often. |
Rules
Save and Validate check the following rules:
- An attribute must be visible on the filter card before you can use it on the x-axis.
- Aggregate attributes cannot be visible on a filter card and cannot be used on the x-axis.
- Data binning is only possible for numeric attributes that are visible and enabled for the x-axis.
- An initial attribute must be visible and must belong to a filter card that is shown at application start.
